Flu Is Serious – It Can Lead To Dangerous Complications

Please watch our video or read the information below.

Flu is a serious illness that can lead to severe complications, including death. Many people who become unwell need hospital care that may be lengthy and, in some cases, involve intensive treatment.

Prevention is the most effective protection, so please take action now.

During winter, flu places huge pressure on the NHS. Large numbers of hospital beds are occupied by patients with flu, which affects emergency care and leads to delays and cancellations for planned procedures.

Help protect yourself, your family and our NHS.

  • Get your flu vaccine if you are eligible
  • Wear a face mask in crowded indoor spaces
  • Wash your hands regularly and use tissues safely

Vaccination is especially vital for people at higher risk including older adults, those with long term health conditions, pregnant women, carers and anyone living with someone who is clinically vulnerable. Protecting those at risk helps to reduce the spread of flu in our community.

If you have been advised to have the flu vaccine, please book your appointment as soon as possible.

The vaccine is free for all eligible groups. If you are not eligible, many pharmacies can provide a vaccination for a small charge.
